Cash Course Introduction

Over the years I have gone from being broke and heavily in debt to now being completely financial independent.  I have a house, garage, and car that are all completely paid for.  I have been able to save up a significant sum of money towards my retirement.  Although there have been several factors influencing the decisions that have led to financial fluency in my life, one that I believe is highly important is the books that I have read.  I have had the opportunity to glean many important anecdotes and other information that have been lifesavers on my road to financial freedom.  I believe that these books would be of great assistance to many others.

Because I realize that many may not have the time or capacity to read all these books, I will set forth on this blog to lay out all the little bits of wisdom that have presented themselves to me over the years as I have read the numerous books at my disposal.  As I read, I like to hi-lite the various nuggets of information that stand out for me.  In this blog, I will jot down all the passages that I have felt inclined to mark.  My hope is that anyone reading this blog will be inspired by the things that have helped me in finding financial independence.

More info can be read at my main blog here.

What Does the Book of Proverbs Say About Money?

The following post lists the verses in Proverbs dealing with money in the order they appear in each chapter.  For a list of these verses separated by category, click here .  This is a work in progress.  It will be updated regularly until it is finished. Proverbs 1 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives. So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which ta...

Why Is College Really Out of Reach for Most People?

Why Americans can't afford college. (It isn't because rich people want you to remain uneducated.) Each year we spend... $70 billion on lottery tickets, $73 billion on gambling, $80 billion on cigarettes, $72 billion on alcohol, $400 billion a year on infomercial purchases (that go unused), $532 million on daily internet deals, $36 billion on video games, $47 billion on pizza, $210 billion on fast food, and $9.1 billion on Halloween... ...but college should be free because we can't afford it. https://www.researchamerica.org/…/rese…/research-takes-cents https://money.cnn.com/…/11…/gallery.money_wasters/index.html This is a post I made to my FB page recently.  I received several likes, comments (good and bad), etc.  In order to clarify some statements, I posted a second time dealing with this subject.  Following is the second post. Well, my last post seemed to have gotten a few actions and reactions, so I thought I'd clarify why I wrote it before I contin...

In Pursuit of My Master's Degree

A master's degree (from Latin magister) is usually a second-cycle academic degree awarded by universities or colleges upon completion of a course of study demonstrating mastery or a high-order overview of a specific field of study or area of professional practice.  A master's degree normally requires previous study at the bachelor's level, either as a separate degree or as part of an integrated course. Within the area studied, master's graduates are expected to possess advanced knowledge of a specialized body of theoretical and applied topics; high order skills in analysis, critical evaluation, or professional application; and the ability to solve complex problems and think rigorously and independently.  (from  Wikipedia )      In 1994 I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications. ...
